Anonymous takes on the Dark Web and shuts down child pornography sites

Anonymous is a hacktivist organization that sends shivers down the spines of top executives and government officials all over the world.  Known for attacking service providers and institutions that violate human rights, it’s no wonder they set their sights on Dark Web, the underbelly of the internet where the worst atrocities are committed.

According to harkcread.com, Anonymous has taken down the Freedom Hosting II servers that affect more than 10,000 websites.  Freedom Hosting II is one of the largest hosting services on the Dark Web and hosts about 20% of all underground websites.

Is that all?  No.  They also have stolen the identities of more than 380,000 users, who received this message the last time they logged on:

“Hello, Freedom Hosting II, you have been hacked.  We are disappointed.  This is an excerpt of your page, ‘We have a zero tolerance policy to child pornography.’ But what we found while searching through your server is more than 50% child porn…Moreover you host many scam sites, some of which are evidently run by yourself to cover hosting expenses.  All your files have been copied and your database has been dumped. (74GB of files and 2.3GB of database).  Up to January 31st, you were hosting 10613 sites.  Private keys are included in the dump.  We are Anonymous.  We do not forgive.  We do not forget.  You should have expected us.  Thanks for your patience, you don’t have to buy data ;) we made a torrent of the database dump.  Here is another torrent with all system files (excluding data).  You may still donate BTC to …….. and support us.  If you need to get in contact with us, our email is ……  We repeatedly get asked how we get into the system.  It was surprisingly easy.  Here is how we did it……”
The databases were stolen, and the websites being hosted by the service were defaced.  Small amounts of this data has begun to leak onto the main web.  Anonymous posted a message that said all the data had been copied and dumped online.  74GB of files and 2.3GB of database were dumped into plain text emails that included private keys-in other words, usernames and hashed passwords.

Anonymous has vowed to always fight child pornography.  They will not stop.  If you are involved in any form of child exploitation, it’s just a matter of time before your information is scooped up by them and dumped for all the world to see.  They are coming for you.  You should be expecting them.

Yes, Trump is our new president. Now let's get to work.

Today is huge.  It may be one of the most controversial inauguration days in history.  I am watching with open eyes as people run around and smash property that doesn't belong to them, cry out in support or against President Trump, and outside of all that, I am aware of the work that is being done during this intense busy time.

Mindy Lin, Co-Founder of Damsel in Defense and Betty Jo, a strong willed firecracker of a woman who is no stranger to going before congress, are in Washington D.C. right now.  They are in the thick of the most historical moment we have seen in a very long time, and may not see for a long time to come.  They are not there to rub in the presidency, protest, or break other people's property.

No.

They are there because in this country, where we should have the right to protect ourselves no matter where we go, there are still so many states where self defense tools are illegal.  This weekend, they will be rubbing elbows with top leaders at the Commander and Chief Ball and meeting with congressmen to discuss women's safety everywhere.

They are there during a very volatile and dangerous time because they know that the work must start now.

While the rest of you are watching protests unfold and spouting your political opinions all over social media, some of us are there because the correct way to be heard is to take steps to get in front of the right people and be heard.  The correct way to be part of the change you want to see is to pull up your undies, roll up your sleeves, and get to work.

Go ahead.  Trash the city.  Break all of the stuff.  Fight, light things on fire, whatever it is that you people who don't get it are going to do.  Nothing but hate, anger, carnage, injury, and loss of life will happen, and frankly, you will look like an idiot.  No work will be accomplished.  No change will take place.  No one's point of view will be affected.  YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH NOTHING.

While you're doing that, our brave ladies and their husbands will be working for real change and getting things done the way they should be getting done.

That is how you create change.

That is what you should be teaching your children.

That is what you should be known for.

Oh yes, I am watching, but not for the same reasons you might be.  I am watching for two girls to ignite change that will stick by being strong, brave leaders instead of weak angry followers.

That's my two cents on this weekend.  Stay safe out there.

Wonder Woman Wednesday-1000 Mile Walk

Survivor is a strong word.  It means you faced trauma and made it through.  Trauma either sucks the life from you and those around you, or it fills you with hope that one day we may live in a trauma free world, and that hope pours from you, spilling into the world.

Paulette McKenzie Leaphart is a survivor.  As a young girl, abuse nearly killed her.  She could have let it fill her with darkness, but instead she lifted her eyes to God and made a deal that if he would see her through the darkness, she would make a difference in the lives of children.  Paulette was filled with hope.

Her hope spilled out into the world around her, and she did grow up to make a difference in the lives of children.

Then, cancer nearly took her from them.  Paulette is a fighter, and she wasn’t about to let cancer have the last word.  Through the battle because of the cost of healthcare, she lost everything, including her home and transportation.  Still, through it all, she was filled with hope that she could make a difference.

It was hope that led her to take the first step in her 1000 mile walk to speak to congress with nothing but a few things, a stroller, and her 8-year-old daughter.  Paulette is on a mission to find a cure for cancer, and she’s walking topless in an effort to rally the troops and show everyone that cancer will not define her.  Her actions will define her.

On June 27th, she will show the world what it means to be a hero.  No matter how hard the road is, she still sings God’s praises and keeps a positive attitude, posting on Facebook, “Singing… I don’t feel no ways tired… NOOOOOO BODY TOLD me, the roads would be easy!!!!  And I don’t believe HE brought me this far to leave me!”

It takes a strong woman to be featured as a Wonder Woman Wednesday recipient, and Paulette blows strength out of the water.  I am honored to tell just a small piece of her story in hopes that it will amplify her strength.

Please follow her hashtag #1000milewalk and Show her some love, and follow her journey on Facebook.  If you’re in her path, get out there and show your support.

Poisonous snakes and pit bulls....oh my!!!

Last night, I had a dream that these people were picking up snakes and putting them on a flatbed trailer. I freaked out, but they told me the only ones that were poisonous were the blue ones, as I watched a blue one fall off the trailer and slither right over to my leg where it jumped up and bit me RIGHT in the calf.

The owner of the snakes said, "It's fine. If you get bit, you just get a pit bull to latch on because their saliva neutralizes the poison, and they can't let go, so you'll get enough saliva to stop it."

So I run around trying to make pit bulls mad enough to bite me in the calf as I feel myself starting to croak, which is terrifying by the way.
Most of them wanted to bite me in the face, but I could jump so high that I would land really far away from them. That is one of my favorite perks of being in a dream. I do it almost any time something scary almost kills me.
Finally, I find one that latches on....and it hurts like a sonofagun!!!!!!

THEN I wake up with the WORST cramp in my calf ever.

So the moral of this story is that my brain goes to elaborate lengths to create a story around anything that is happening....The life of a writer.

Disclaimer-I am not a pit bull hater, I believe they are wonderful dogs, I just think my brain was on hypercreativespaz.

Wonder Woman Wednesday-The first Phoenix of 2016

When you think of sex trafficking, what do you envision?  For most it’s a kidnapped girl trapped in a dog crate and only let out for paying customers.  Although that does happen, most of the time it’s not like that.

Let me tell you the story of a girl from Portland, Oregon named Jeri Williams.  A member of the Klamath tribe, she married at 19, she found herself on the other side of the country trying to raise four children with an abusive husband.  At the urging of a friend fro
m Portland, she left that situation.  She and moved back to the West Coast to live with that friend, and that’s where the real nightmare began.

You see, this friend was no friend at all.  She was a former sex worker whose brother was a leader for the local Crips set.  This friend, who was pregnant, was being paid in crack cocaine to recruit women into prostitution.

Jeri Williams
Jeri tells this horrendous account, “[The gang members would] pick up young girls to recruit downtown in Pioneer Square, bring them back to my apartment and pull trains on them on my couch.” I stopped her for clarification. “Trains. Gang rape them. You know, one after the other. And then they would say, ‘you’re a whore, you need to go out and walk the streets or we’ll tell your mom. Or if you get arrested, you know, it won’t be our fault, it’ll be your fault ‘cause you hung out with us.”

Jeri’s friend who urged her to move away from her husband for safety tricked her.  She ended up on the streets turning tricks while her ‘friend’ babysat her children and allegedly used them as bait to draw in other young women.

Jeri was kept in a locked room by her pimp, who often times let his friends in to rape her.  She was only let out from 8pm to 6am to work.  She had to bring back at least $300 each night, which she estimates to be about 15 dates.  Fifteen different men every single night.

She finally got her chance to break free when a john tried robbing her and stabbed her in the back and arm.  She fought for her life and her money and when she brought it “home” her pimp sent her back out on the streets the next day to 'get back in the saddle'.  Shortly after, he was arrested for something.  Now she had help from the authorities to get out, but it was not easy.

On her journey towards healing, she attended Portland Community College to get her degree to become an alcohol and drug counselor, and she also fell back into the pattern of dating abusive men and drug dealers.  During one night, the police kicked down her door and found Uzis and 27 grams of crack cocaine on the table.  Jeri received a felony conviction for the dealings of her boyfriend and her children were placed in foster care.  When she got out of jail, she was homeless for a while before moving into the West Woman’s Shelter for just over a year.   This is where she burned down her former self and emerged as a phoenix.

She stared working as a housekeeper at a Portland Red Lion Inn and was introduced to local unions and community organizing.  She co-founded the Urban Workers Union which unionized parking-lot attendants in 2001.  She became the executive director of the Environmental Justice Action group and helped defeat the expansion of I-5 that runs through low income communities in Portland.  The Governor appointed her to two task forces that worked on transportation and trade issues.

In 2006, she won the Alston Bannerman Fellowship Award for activists of color and was offered a job with the Diversity Civic Leadership Program that teaches civic engagement to communities of color and immigrant-refugee communities.

Through all of this, her story began to emerge.  She began speaking about it to church groups because she realized, just as all survivors do, healed hearts heal hearts.  She has worked actively to help bring a human face to the problem of sex trafficking, and even has testified before Congress.  She is now a grandmother and activist, and the ripples she makes in the world create change.

Because of her unfailing bravery to face her struggle, Jeri is the first woman featured on Wonder Woman Wednesday for 2016.  Her story is proof that you aren't the sum of the things you've done or the things that have been done to you.  There is light after the darkness.

Looking back on Damsel in Defense

From left to right: Mindy Lin, Co-Founder of  Damsel
in Defense, myself, Bethany Hughes, Co-Founder of
Damsel in Defense
On this day 2 years ago, Mindy Lin and Bethany Hughes, the Co-founders of Damsel in Defense didn't know me at all. Neither did CEO Bob Hipple.  We'd never met, and I know they were very busy launching this amazing company.

I earned Leadership Retreat that year, and half way through the first day, I came down sick. I mean so sick I had to go to the emergency room.  The problem was, my insurance wouldn't cover me outside of Oregon, so I after one excruciating night of literally feeling near death in a hotel that didn't even have a thermometer, I decided to fly home early.  It was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Everyone kept telling me not to look sick or they wouldn't let me on the plane, so I opted for the hood up, sunglasses on, uni-bomber look.  Luckily they let me on the plane, and my husband immediately picked me up and took me straight to the emergency room. My temperature was approaching 104 degrees, I could barely walk, and the infection was bad. The doctor said, "Wow, when
you do something,  you really do it, don't you" and, "I'm so glad you came today, because this really could have ended badly."

Me and Mindy on a random
stop at Damsel Home Office
Turns out I had strep throat really, really bad.  I don't just mean pretty bad, I mean really, really bad.  It came on without warning and knocked me out completely in a matter of hours.  I was in bed unable to eat, move, or drink for 2 more days.  I had a serious double ear infection to go with it.  Had I waited a day, the hospital stay would have been more than an emergency room visit and being sent home with medication.

In that time, not only did Mindy Lin post on Facebook, but she sent a private message and I received an email AND a phone call from Bob Hipple. They had all of my stuff that I didn't bring home packaged and shipped to me so that I had everything,  and they followed up a week later.

Damsel Home office stop
Not only that, but Damsel Pros came out of the woodwork to check on me while I was down.  My text message inbox and Facebook message inbox were both filled with well wishes and photos of notes on things that I missed.  No matter what team those girls were on, they didn't care, because my success was important enough for them to think of sending information to me that they felt I missed out on.  Never in my life, and in my 10+ direct sales company experience have I seen the kind Of love and compassion that I've seen from Damsel in Defense.

The Red Hots at the 2nd annual Damsel in Defense National
Conference
Friday I embark again on a journey to sunny Southern California for Leadership Retreat. I'm filled with deep contemplation of the last 2 1/2 years that I've been an Independent Pro. It's one of the best business moves I've ever made.

Since joining this amazing team, I have made unbreakable friendships that I couldn't ever imagine my life without, I have been to 2 national conferences, one at which I was a speaker, I have been to half of a Leadership Retreat, and I've worked up the ranks to Senior Mentor, I've attended 2 Damsel Drop Ins, I've been to the Damsel Headquarters a couple of times, and I not only have the privilege of being able to meet Mindy, Bethany, and Bob, I have the blessing of their true and honest friendships.

The first NW Damsel Drop in

As we put 2015 to bed and 2016 begins to stir

Ohmygosh....I have so many wonderful direct sales friends on my facebook and I have been watching each and every one of them post their goals for 2016.  I'm so blessed to be in on their excitement and so many of them I know will reach their goals!

Goals are SO important, not only in the direct selling industry, but in life.  Don't get them confused with New Year's Resolutions.  Those things are unrealistic dreams disguised as goals.  A goal has to be SMART.

You can always count on my team
for  laughter filled shenanigans
Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic, and Timely

You can resolve to lose weight, but if you don't specify how much, how long, what your plan is, determine that it's realistic (40 lbs in a month is not realistic no matter how many people seem to think it is), and timely.  Will you lose ten pounds in three months or a year?  You have to put an end cap on your goal, or it just blows away like fairy dust.

Do not let our business blow away like fairy dust.  It happens, I've seen it, you won't like it.

Trying to get as many people as possible
in our Las Vegas conference
photo
That brought me to thinking of my own business.  In the 2 1/2 years I have been with this amazing company, I have not only been able to pay for things like Christmas gifts for my children and travel for my family, but I have been on four Damsel trips, I'm getting ready to go on # five to southern California for a weekend of amazement, I'll be on #5 in July to Florida, it blew me away!  I didn't realize that so much has been put in my path #becauseofdamsel.

It not only has brought me a ton of financial freedom, but it's created some of the strongest life long bonds humanly possible.  The people Damsel in Defense has connected me with are worth more than all of the diamonds in the universe.

The Red Hots are always
Red Hot on awards night
Not only that, but it has opened so many doors.  I am now on several speaker's bureaus, currently finishing up my book, and have been able to touch so many lives through my story.  That would have never happened had I not picked up the phone when I saw that Idaho number calling and said yes to one of the Co-Founders to speak at our second national conference.  If I knew the amount of balls that would be rolling that day, I would have never believed it.  Sometimes I still have to pinch myself to make sure it's true.  How did a broken, abused, wrong choice making crazy person like me get to this spot?  Goals.

Me with Co-Founder
Mindy Lin
Not only that, but I've been able to personally watch both friends and strangers who have joined my team grow in the same ways all because I had the courage to ask them if they wanted to join me, or to lead them through the enrollment process after they decided to follow a perfect stranger (me) as a business mentor.

So many more things are just around the corner.  My goals are laid out and currently being measured and cut down to size based on the year, the months, the weeks, and they days.

Always abide by the code
I can't wait to watch my fellow direct sales friends reach their goals.  We will be cheering each other on, because it's not about wanting everyone to join you, it's about leading those who do and cheering on those who are your colleagues.  I can't wait to feel their cheers as my goals come to fruition.  My facebook is filled with hope, excitement, and planning right now.  Just knowing that I have hundreds of friends who have made the choice to take their financial freedom into their own hands gives me chills.

What?  My team tried to steal the coveted pink
couch in Vegas?  I don't know what
you're talking about.
In speaking with my team today, I'm so excited about each and every one of them.  Their goals are my goals, because we've created not just a team, but a community.  I couldn't be more blessed to not have to answer to a boss, to decide how much time I want to spend on my business, how much I want to spend on my family, and how much I want to spend on others.  Not having to clock in and out for a job that I hate is amazing.

Hanging with my girl
at our Boise conference in
2014
What are your goals for 2016?  If it's to join my team, let's talk about what that looks like.  I would be excited to add you to my community.  I promise you'll come away a stronger person.

One of the most comprehensive consultants you can learn from

When it comes to direct sales coaches and trainers, they are a dime-a-dozen.  They all have books, audio books, dvd sets, and a master plan that promises big payout.

There are only a few that are the real deal, and Sarah Robbins is one of those few.

One of the things I love the most about her training is that she gets real with you.  When someone can not only share the secrets of their success, but also the depths of their failures and struggles, it becomes more realistic.  They are human and I am human too.  That's the most important connection right there.

You can relate to her story in so many ways, and once you've made that human connection, the realization that if she can do it, you can do it too becomes very real.

You can learn more about her at SarahRobbins.com

If you have ever had the opportunity to listen to any training by Sarah Robbins, you know how exciting this is.  If you haven't, you definitely should.  Damsel in Defense was lucky enough to recently have a training call with Sarah, and it reignited something in my business that I didn't even know had burned out.  Now I'm rockin' and rollin', and I'll see you at the top!

Wonder Woman Wednesday-The Thursday edition

Due to computer malfunction, this article wouldn't post yesterday.  We're going to try again!

27-year- old mother-of-two, Brooke Beaton, was just a girl who worked at Chevys Fresh Mex and planned to start taking classes on at the University Center when she found herself driving her car with her boyfriend - who has not been named - in the passenger seat.

After he became angry, he punched her in the face, struck her again, choked her and tried to take away her phone, she said.

'I ended up at a gas station about five miles away from where we were,' Beaton told the Argus Leader. 'He was wiping up the crime scene with a paper towel from the gas pump.'

Beaton said her blood was spattered on the ground and all over her cell phone.

Her attacker eventually let her take him to his home and she drove away to her own house.
Once she arrived home she called the police and a sheriff's deputy. The next day she called her good friend Tiffany Thoelke, a freelance photographer, and planned a photo shoot.

Beaton, who had modeled before decided that her assault would be the perfect platform to raise awareness of domestic violence and how suddenly it can happen.

Her boyfriend, who she had been dating for 4 months but had been friends with for 8 years was arrested for domestic aggravated assault and interference with emergency communication because he stopped her from calling for help.

Since Brooke posted the photos on her social media, the outpouring of support and stories of other survivors have poured in.

Her cool head got her out of a terrible situation, and her bravery allowed her to pick up the phone.  Her extraordinary courage brought her in front of a camera unafraid to show the damage that had been done so that people would notice domestic violence happens everywhere and can happen to anyone.  Because of her strength, Brooke Beaton is this week’s Wonder Woman.

Learn more about Wonder Women or submit your story to Sunshine@YourDamselDiva.com.

Wonder Women....may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.

I'm breaking my blog silence on the Duggar family molestation victim blaming fail

I haven't blogged about the Duggar molestation scandal because one, it makes me sick, and two, I wanted more of the story to unfold.  Everyone in the blogsphere hit the keys with happy hatred beating in their hearts, excited to take down a family that they knew couldn't be as perfect as it seemed to be.  I am not a piranha and refuse to hit the keys just because there’s blood in the water, however, I am a great white shark, and there is victim blaming on a surf board just above me.

I’ve been in several debates with people since the news broke about what the difference between molestation and exploration.  Exploration happens in childhood.  You've probably been curious about your body at some point and checked out a trusted friend’s body just to see what it looks like.  Exploration is entered into mutually by two children usually of the same sex and who are the same age and size.  There is never coercion or deception by one, and most times it’s just to see what parts of their body look like from a different view.  Children who are caught in exploratory play are often giggling because they feel it’s silly.  Child molestation happens when a person becomes sexually aroused by a child who is much smaller and younger than them.  Deception, such as touching during sleep or using coercion to perform or get away with sex acts on a child is child molestation.

In this case, the victims were more than 5 years younger, in a completely different age group, there was coercion and deception.  It seems cut and dry.  The Incest Survivors Resource Network states that "the erotic use of a child, whether physically or emotionally, is sexual exploitation in the fullest meaning of the term, even if no bodily contact is ever made."  It’s very important to remember that no touching has to ever occur for the damage to be done.  Even exposing one’s self or looking at a child who has been talked into taking their own clothes off for sexual gratification is sexual abuse.

Forget the abuser, let’s stop talking about how he was just a boy who needed therapy.  We have established that he meets both legal and psychological criteria to be considered a predatory sex offender.

What about the girls?  And I’m not talking about who they are, where they live, and what they look like.  I’m talking about the fact that no one cared enough to protect the girls beyond counselling.
When a girl is molested, several things happen from a psychological and medical standpoint.  A sacred barrier has been breached.   Psychologically, when a young girl is molested, there is an instant brand of shame put right on her heart.  It can take years to go away, and sometimes it never does, especially when the information is suppressed.  It’s not something that a short stint of counselling can fix.  PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, weight issues, and even issues within the reproductive parts of the body can stem from even one time of child sexual abuse.  When a child is molested and the information is suppressed, it deepens the shame in that child and will take root and grow as that child enters adulthood.  Children who are sexually abused at a young age can always struggle with what box to put sex into.   They will often be either overly sexual or have no sexual desire.  This can cause relationship problems and even divorce as an adult.   Drug and alcohol use often becomes a factor as well.  According to the AAETS,  “specialists in the addiction field (alcohol, drugs and eating disorders) estimate that up to 90 percent of their patients have a known history of some form of abuse.   Children who have been sexually abused are at higher risk to be groomed for sex trafficking and working in the adult entertainment business.

When a girl’s heart has been affected by sexual abuse as a child, she looks to her champions to come to her rescue.  In this case, the champions in question suppressed the information and created a familial culture that it’s not that big of a deal.  When children, especially young girls have to grow up in this victim blaming culture within the family, being faced with their abuser every day and watching him get away without any real consequence, it deepens the chasm of shame, opens up the risk of it happening again and again as they head into adulthood, and never re-solidifies that barrier.  This is why women who have been abused often times end up with men who abuse.  That barrier that would send someone else running for the hills appears familiar and safe to a girl who has experienced the same barrier breach as a child, even if the woman doesn't understand why, therefore repeating the cycle of abuse.

This chasm of shame can hold adults back from ever reaching their full potential.  In some cases, everything can seem fine until one day in her mid-30’s, Suzie Q has a psychological breakdown and doesn’t understand why.  The long term effects of sexual abuse are staggering, even in girls who have received counselling as a child.  It’s an epidemic that will not ever go away until people start standing up and saying, “We will not condone this anymore!”

Parents, protect your children.  Mandatory reporters, PLEASE REPORT!  IT’S MANDATORY!!!  Even if it feels like life will be really hard once you do.  This story proves that if you don’t, life will be even harder.

So, while I watch mortified as the only conversations people are having are out of anger that the girls have been victimized by this story coming out, I want to leave you with this.  They were already victimized.  No one cared to be outraged then.  Nobody who was supposed to protect them did.  A piece of their soul is forever missing, and they are just supposed to be okay with it.  The more the conversation minimalizes the actual event in their lives by diverting the outrage to other avenues, it creates this new feeling that
what happened was really no big deal.  THIS FURTHERS THE VICTIM BLAMING RAPE CULTURE WE LIVE IN TODAY and will continue to leave victims blaming themselves for something that maybe should be no big deal.  It will continue to stop victims from speaking up because they believe no one will do anything to help them, which will leave them to be victimized over and over again in their lives.  The trauma isn’t that this came out now, it’s that no one did anything in the first place.

Abuse is always a big deal.  Coercion and deception are the path to abuse.  Always report it.  Be part of the movement to stop the cycle and hold people accountable for their actions.

Let me ask you this.  If a 15 year old kid shot your child in cold blood, would you not want them to be treated and tried as an adult?  Why is sexual abuse any different?
